The large 9ft x 9ft x 6ft deep water storage pit. The tank is waterproofed inside with polythene sheet and collects filtered runoff water from the compound and roofs. Moringa seeds help to clear and clean the water. The tanks are covered to minimize evaporation, avoid providing a mosquito breeding area and improve safety. The pit is accessed by a trap door which can be locked for safety and security. This water can help in house chores like washing, irrigation of vegetables and feeding animals. One tank costs $ 20 compared to the tank at the factory of the same capacity of 300litres, which costs $ 189 therefore you can see how households can have access to water in rural Africa.
