We have used the principles and genius of nature to develop an effective solution that addresses the impacts of stormwater and solid waste from informal settlements; piloted in two projects for the Berg River Improvement Plan in the Western Cape.
The end goal is to achieve a zero-waste scenario, within the informal community.
The solutions, which include and link environmental protection, capacity building and community upliftment - place the existing community at the centre of environmental and developmental agenda.
The Langrug informal settlement in Franschhoek (Western Cape) is where the groundbreaking stormwater runoff and solid waste management innovations is being piloted, with the potential technologies and solutions to be implemented, at scale, across the continent!
