Circulation Shower

We propose a circulation shower that saves 90% on water and energy. Families can shower endlessly with only a bucket of water. Our idea is to make an Africa-proof version of the circulation shower - a proven concept. This idea has already been deployed in the Netherlands and is ready to be deployed quickly on a large scale. By making circulation showers available to all families, schools and other public institutions, ...more »

Sustainable Use of Underground and Rain water

Water is one of the essential compounds for life and a scarce resource in the same measure. It’s said that this essential commodity occupies almost 75% of the earth’s surface but it’s quite ironical that with this kind of abundance water would still be referred to with an adjective like scarce or even the word drought should exist. Ironical or not, there is no sufficient fresh and clean water for consumption. Most of ...more »

Social Entrepreneurship Centre

It is no secret that access to clean water is a huge issue in Sub-Saharan Africa. That is why you are having this Water4Africa campaign.Massive improvements in this sector have been seen since the year 2000 because it was part of the United Nations MDG's. While the situation has indeed improved, more needs to be done. I believe that to see real strides in solving this issue we need more people invested in the vision. ...more »

SUSTAINABLE WATER DELIVERY

Over the years many governments and NGO's installed boreholes with manual pumps all across Africa but never maintained or trained anybody to fix these mechanical pumps. Through visiting areas in Northern Mozambique we found that up to 75% of these clean water sources weren't functioning anymore. in 2008 we launched an initiative that has provided clean safe drinking water for nearly 250 000 people. We have been able ...more »

Sanitation Marketing: Water Source Based Sanitation SACCOs

This idea builds on a water supply model being used in Uganda. Here is the long and short of the model: 1. Water supply is primarily the responsibility of the Government; with users having the responsibility of demanding for the service, through the leaders. 2. Maintaining water sources is the role of the communities; who form water and sanitation committees to manage the water sources. Users (averaging 30 households ...more »

Perfect way to get more water.

Hello, my name is Ernestas and I have an idea how people, who live in Africa can get water when its needed. I suggest to dig a river or a water channel between Indian Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean. This could be an easy way to get water fast. I also would like to get a map and I need more info about where the water is needed so I can send more ideas and suggesions.
